Express fall for first time since 2019

by Erie Express Media

Congratulations to the Baltimore Lightning on a hard fought game. Best wishes to you the remainder of your season...minus 1 game of course.
Your Erie Express took 30 of our 75 players to Baltimore last night and suffered our first loss since the 2019 season. A change to the schedule made it difficult if not impossible for many of our players to make the trip.
The Lightning jumped out early blocking a punt and recovering it in the end zone for the first score of the game. The 2pt try was no good and made the score 6-0. Baltimore would again capitalize on special teams returning a punt to the 1 yard line only to punch it in the following play. A long punt return to the Express 11 would set up the Lightning's longest play of the day a 17yd TD pass for their final score of the game making it 18-0.
We knew going in how light we were and players were going to have to do whatever was needed to keep us in the game. Without our top 4 QB's rookie WR Nasir Singleton got plugged in at QB and kept us in the game scoring on a 12yd run and connecting on a 30yd pass to Antonio Batista. A lot of young players were able to get valuable playing time so we must take to good from the bad in that regard and build from here.
We will correct the issues and look to get better. Your Express will travel to Columbus next week to face the Fire. GO EXPRESS
